The Equator Principles
Aligning project finance outcomes with the
Equator Principles
The Equator Principles: a financial industry benchmark for determining, assessing and managing social and environmental risk in project financing.
The Equator Principles Financial Institutions (EPFIs) have adopted the Principles in order to ensure that the projects they finance are developed in a manner that is socially responsible and reflect sound environmental management practices. By doing so, negative impacts on project-affected ecosystems and communities are mitigated and/or compensated for appropriately and, where at all possible, avoided.
The Principles are intended to serve as a common baseline and framework for the implementation by each EPFI of its own internal social and environmental policies, procedures and standards related to its project financing activities.
EPFIs review the Principles from time to time in order to reflect ongoing learning and emerging good practice.
Oxford index helps clients manage the social, environmental and economic risks and impacts of their investments, including being accountable to their stakeholders.
Oxford index has global experience in advising leading trans-national corporations and multilateral agencies (e.g. World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), UN) on the delivery of successful project finance outcomes and risk management.
We work with both project finance lenders (e.g. IFC) and borrowers, (e.g. Rio Tinto, Anglo American, BP and Eni), as well as with NGOs (e.g. Fauna and Flora International, elephant family and IUCN The World Conservation Union).
